Hotham to Falls Alpine Crossing - 3 Days
Explore untouched wilderness in one of Victoria's most pristine environments.
The Victorian high country immediately inspires images of open rolling hills, old stockman huts and wild horses running free. The Alpine National Park is one of Victoria's most pristine and beautiful environments, and this wild land in between two busy mountain resorts is ripe to be explored.
Over this 3 day hike, we'll see Victoria's oldest cattleman hut, camp in pristine locations, enjoy endless views and chances to see classic high country wildlife.
While this hike is not extremely demanding, there is a one significant climb but we will have plenty of time to take it at a leisurely pace. Guests will be required to carry their own personal clothing and equipment including matress and sleeping bag. This should all fit into a 40L back pack and weight less than 12kgs. Tents, cooking equipment and food will all be carried by your guides!

Day 1: Meet in Melbourne early morning for a gear check and briefing. Drive to Mount Hotham and hike down to our campsite in the valley.
Day 2: We start hiking up to gain the Bogong high plains and head towards Cope Hut. Side trips to some spectacular view points are possible.
Day 3: Continuing along the Australian Alps Walking Track, we'll visit Wallace hut, and hike along an aqueduct then a high ridge into Falls Creek Resort. Drive back to Melbourne with possible stops along the way at various breweries, wineries and eateries!
Meet in Melbourne's north early morning for a gear check and briefing. Drive to Mount Hotham via a coffee and snack stop in Bright. We'll have lunch at the trail head before hiking down to our campsite in the valley.
Day 2 begins with a our only significant climb, hiking up out of the valley to gain the Bogong high plains and head towards Cope Hut. Once we gain the high plains, the walking becomes easy and we can enjoy the spectaular alpine scenery. Today is our best chance of seeing wild brumbies running free.
Continuing along the Australian Alps Walking Track, we'll visit Wallace hut, Victoria's oldest cattleman hut, and hike along an aqueduct then a high ridge into Falls Creek Resort. The drive back to Melbourne will have opportunities to stop along the way at various breweries, wineries and eateries!
